FAQs

Welcome to the FAQ page, your go-to guide for everything you need to know before getting tattooed. Here, you’ll find clear, concise answers to common questions about the process, pricing, aftercare, and more.

  • NO children are allowed in the studio, so please make childcare plans for your tattoo.
DO NOT bring friends or family to your appointment. There isn’t the space for lots of people to hang around in the studio. There are lots of things to do in Brighton & Hove and lots of great cafés if they wish to wait elsewhere nearby.

  • Yes, I do cover-ups. However, for all cover-ups, I advise a face-to-face consultation to assess what’s achievable and discuss the design possibilities.

  • No design work is done until your booking is secured. Generally, designs are shown on the day. You will have ample time on the day of your appointment to make any tweaks to your design.

    • Make sure you come to your tattoo appointment well-rested.

    • Eat a big meal beforehand to give you energy for your tattoo session.

    • Bring sweets to help keep your blood sugar levels up.

    • Clients can bleed more from paracetamol-based painkillers, so ibuprofen can take the edge off, but you will still know you’re getting tattooed.

    • After a big tattoo session, take a few days of rest. Your body has a lot of healing to do and needs a break to recover.

  • Typically, it takes 1–4 weeks. The surface layer is normally good by 2 weeks. It’s really important to follow aftercare instructions to prevent infection and ensure the tattoo heals well.

  • Please go to my aftercare page and follow the instructions there.

  • 99% of the time, yes! However, there are a few exceptions. In these cases, you may need to consult your GP.

If you have a rash, sunburn, etc., in the area you are looking to get tattooed, you will need to allow the area to heal fully before I can tattoo you.

  • I recommend waiting 2 weeks before going away if you are prepared to cover your tattoo with clothes to protect it from the sun whilst it continues to heal.
Ideally, wait 4 weeks. You will also want to wear high-factor sun protection afterwards to prevent it from fading.

  • Over the years, tattoos may fade due to exposure to sunlight, ageing and other factors. To prevent this as much as possible, use high-factor sun protection.

  • You must be 18 years old, regardless of parental consent. This is the law (Tattooing of Minors Act 1969). Photographic ID will be required.

  • Unfortunately not. There is a very slim chance of passing on an infection to your baby; however, it’s always better to be safe than sorry.

  • Please fill out the booking form. I offer free face-to-face or online consultations if you want to discuss ideas or get an understanding of my tattooing process.

  • I price according to the size, placement and how detailed the design is.
I offer hourly, full-day and consecutive-day sittings. Discounts may be available on multiple bookings, free-reign portfolio designs and last-minute cancellations.
If I am working at a guest spot, the costs may vary depending on the city and my travel expenses.

  • Tattooing is not a quick process, nor should it be rushed, as you will be living with the results for the rest of your life! I will give you a rough estimate of the time required and will endeavour to stay as close to that as possible. Please understand that it’s an approximation, not definitive. Making changes to the design, size, etc., after the original quote will also impact the final time.

  • Deposits are essential to secure an appointment. This is NON-refundable.
Should you need to move an appointment, I require 72 hours' notice to rearrange, and this can only be done once before a new deposit is required.
